We began our foundation in 2004 and have supported a variety of organizations in the years since then. These organizations are wide ranging, from disaster relief and youth mentoring to cancer research and our alma maters. The breadth of organizations we have supported over the years reflects the journey we have been on and some of the things we have cared deeply about.
Summary: Built on the belief that a high quality education for traditionally-underserved students is a vital remedy to generational poverty and societal dysfunction, Lighthouse serves 750 K - 12 students and is making plans to open a 2nd site in the Fall of 2016 -- both schools located in East Oakland. To date, Juma has helped more than 3,000 low-income students earn $3 million in wages and save more than $2 million toward higher education.Read More ▶
Summary: A national youth development nonprofit organization, Summer Search works with low-income high school students to transform what they believe is possible for themselves. Our local program helps students in San Francisco, Contra Costa, Alameda, Marin, Napa, Sonoma, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties develop the skills and character traits they need to become college-educated leaders who give back to their families and communities.Read More ▶
