Non-Profit Status

The Foundation considers US-based organizations organized and operated as 501(c)(3) public charities or the equivalent (including fiscal sponsors of 501(c)(3) organizations).

Geography

The Foundation generally considers organizations based in the following order of priority: Bay Area, California, Florida, New York, entire United States.

Program Interests

Education

The Foundation supports middle- and high-school age students in the San Francisco Bay Area and Florida in gaining academic support, character development, college access and preparation, and additional programming to spark and bolster their success. This includes, but is not limited to, secondary and high school education, youth development, youth mentorship, career or workforce development, makerspaces, STEM/STEAM, financial literacy, and digital/blended learning.

Health

The Foundation supports breast cancer research, with an emphasis on eliminating HER2+ cancer and meeting the needs of those undergoing treatment and their caregivers. This includes innovative and emerging research, fertility services and access to those services for cancer patients, and awareness and support groups for young cancer patients and caregivers.

Sustainability

The Foundation supports biodiversity and climate change reversal and/or resilience through sea otter (and other species) repopulation, kelp reforestation, ocean health, conservation research and genomic studies, wildlife crossings, and land and waterway conservation.

Risk Profile

The Foundation typically prefers organizations with a track record of 3-4 years of demonstrated outcomes. However, newer organizations may be considered if there is significant alignment with giving priority goals.

Grant Types

The Foundation typically considers requests for general operating support (supports an organizations’ overall mission and operations), project support (supports specific outcomes), and research grants.

The Foundation does not consider requests for capital campaigns, lobbying, events, or individuals.
